Job description

We’re looking for a finance assistant who is motivated to contribute to building a solid finance foundation. If this is you, we have an amazing opportunity for you: learning all about finance at a fast-growing scale-up.

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day finance operations. You will support our Finance Director in the day-to-day activities and help to structure, organize and control BR1GHT. You will report directly to and work together with the Finance Director, who will also serve as your mentor, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn all about best practices in finance operations.

You’ll be responsible for a broad range of financial topics at BR1GHT. Together with our Finance Director, you’ll brainstorm sustainable financial procedures to ultimately improve efficiency, limit financial risk and control our organization to help further grow our business. In addition you’ll be in direct contact with our accountant and you’ll gain practical experience by seeing how finance teams up with marketing and operations. You will do this for our companies in The Netherlands, Surinam and South Africa.


Specific aspects

Your main responsibilities as a finance assistant are:

  • Serving as the main contact person for finance related questions from the BR1GHT team: about reimbursements, payslips, and refunds;
  • Help prepare the monthly and quarterly closing and reporting process;
  • Spot and suggest improvements and continuously refine our financial processes;
  • Develop yourself in different areas such as tax, legal, risk management, controlling and reporting.
  • Executing day to day financial and bookkeeping operations;
    • Debtor (AR) and creditor (AR) management (preparing payments and monitoring debtors)
    •  Financial administration (correct invoicing, checking and processing all incoming invoices, keeping and checking daily financial administration);
    • Creation, checking and make payment proposal
    • Processing bank statements.
    • Supporting the project administration (creating, maintaining and project reporting
    • Checking daily processing of financial data and general ledger transactions

Who are you?

To be successful in the position of Financial Assistant, you are of course well-versed in numbers, you work accurately and independently, you are honest in handling confidential information and you like communicating and coordinating. In addition:

  • Finance background and education;
  • Experience in the financial part of a (project) organization;
  • Knowledge of Excel;;
  • Numerically strong;
  • Service-oriented attitude;
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills;
  • Willing to contribute to the development of our young scale-up organization;
  • Attention to detail and well organize;
  • Proactive, confident and reliable;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

Because we are a fast-growing company in an international context, it is important that you have experience in a similar position, so that you can be trained quickly. Experience with bookkeeping software Exact Online that is an advantage. You are immediately available for 24-32 hours a week
