Auditdienst Rijk TeamMate+ implementation
Written by Rob Van Wesel
Auditdienst Rijk (ADR) is the internal audit service for the Dutch central government, tasked with ensuring the accountability and efficiency of public administration. ADR conducts a variety of audits, including financial audits, performance audits, and IT audits, to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of governmental financial statements, the effectiveness of operations, and adherence to laws and regulations. These audits are crucial, to help improve internal controls and governance structures, ensuring the optimal use of public resources. Through their audits conducted, ADR plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and performance of the Dutch central government.
The decision to implement TeamMate+ by Auditdienst Rijk (ADR) followed a public tender process initiated due to the end of life of their old Audit Management System. ADR sought a modern solution that would enhance their audit approach and streamline their audit processes. We (BR1GHT), as a partner of Wolters Kluwer TeamMate stood out by submitting an extensive response highlighting our understanding of the tender requirements.
We aligned the advanced features, with a compelling value proposition of how TeamMate+ could accommodate the desired audit process whilst improving audit efficiency and effectiveness. Consequently, ADR selected TeamMate+ to ensure continued excellence and a next maturity step in their auditing processes and to supportive audit management technology.
This client experience is about our support and added value delivered during the selection and implementation process to get TeamMate+ live.
As part of the tender submission BR1GHT and Wolters Kluwer made impact through a thorough demo that reflected the tender submission and demonstrated a deep understanding of Auditdienst Rijk’s (ADR) needs. It showcased the capabilities of TeamMate+ and how it could address ADR’s specific requirements, reassuring ADR that TeamMate+ solution is the right choice. By aligning the demo closely with ADR’s expectations and providing a clear vision of the system’s benefits, BR1GHT set a strong start for project success. Key success factors during the implementation were:
Interactive & inspiring workshops to configure an optimal TeamMate+
To configure an optimal TeamMate+ system, BR1GHT conducted interactive workshops that were both informative and inspiring for the ADR project team. These workshops allowed ADR staff to engage with the new system, ask questions, and provide feedback, ensuring that the configuration met their needs. Our hands-on approach and enthusiasm motivated the project team, creating a collaborative environment that was essential to a successful implementation.
Designing and implementing an integrated risk-based financial audit approach
The ADR project team, supported by us, was instrumental in designing and implementing an integrated risk-based financial audit approach within TeamMate+. This approach allowed ADR to effectively identify and prioritize risks, assess controls, perform those substantive procedures that were deemed necessary, enhancing the overall audit approach. BR1GHT’s expertise ensured that the system supported this integrated (financial) audit process, enabling ADR to focus their audit efforts where they were needed most.
Combining different audit types in TeamMate+
The ADR project team successfully combined various audit types; financial audits, IT audits, and performance audits within TeamMate+.
This integration further streamlined ADR’s auditing operations, providing a unified platform for managing all audit activities. By consolidating these different audit types, BR1GHT enabled ADR to enhance efficiency and maintain consistency across the ADR audits.
Streamlining audit template maintenance and roll forward benefits
The ADR project team also streamlined ADR’s audit templates, with revised and updated audit standards and professional practice maintenance into TeamMate+. Being able to leverage the Roll Forward feature, ensuring that audit templates can be easily updated and reused, saving time and maintaining high standards of quality. This enhancement is simplifying the (financial) auditing process, while ensuring compliance with professional standards.
Turning excel-driven reports into TeamMate+ reports
Lastly, some key ADR Excel-driven reports were turned into TeamMate+ reports, providing a single-click solution for generating audit insights or have them directly on-screen. This not only improved the efficiency of report generation but also provided real-time access to audit insights within TeamMate+. The ability to quickly and easily produce key audit reports empowered ADR to maintain transparency in their auditing processes and stakeholder discussions.
After a successful go-live event and the end-use experience captured from two “koploperteams,” the entire Auditdienst Rijk (ADR) organization is now adopting TeamMate+. This will bring new experiences and valuable feedback, for further enhancing of the system’s effectiveness. We, as BR1GHT, remain in close contact with ADR, as part of this significant transition. Our collaboration aims to address challenges, and the full potential of TeamMate+ is realized. Together, we are committed to make this journey a remarkable success for ADR.
We (BR1GHT) are proud to have partnered with Auditdienst Rijk (ADR). Working alongside ADR’s ambitious and dedicated professionals has been inspiring as we collectively elevate the power of TeamMate+, enhancing their audit capabilities to new heights. Together, we have realized the full spectrum of possibilities offered by TeamMate+, enabling ADR to uphold high standards of audit excellence. Our collaboration underscores a shared commitment to advancing their audit ambitions and use of technology in sustaining their robust audit practice and making a tangible impact for the ADR.
