Automating risk assessment updates with API connectivity

Challenge: Managing large-scale risk assessments efficiently
One of our clients faced a significant challenge in maintaining up-to-date risk assessments. With a vast risk register containing over 5,000 risks, they found it cumbersome to continuously update risk scores within TeamMate using the built-in interface. The manual process of adjusting scores via sliders was time-consuming and impractical for their needs. Instead, they opted to conduct risk assessments externally in Excel, collecting and managing data outside the system. However, transferring this data into TeamMate remained a bottleneck, requiring tedious manual input that led to inefficiencies and potential errors.

Solution: Seamless integration with custom API connectivity
To address this challenge, we leveraged TeamMate’s API capabilities to design a custom solution tailored to the client’s workflow. Our goal was to enable a direct, hassle-free upload of their risk assessment data from Excel into TeamMate without requiring predefined templates or manual reformatting.

We built a specialised program that allowed the client to upload their customised Excel file directly into TeamMate. The program was designed with an intelligent validation mechanism to ensure data integrity before the upload process.

Key features included:

• Automated Data Validation: The program conducted a series of tests to verify the completeness and accuracy of the uploaded data. If any issues were detected, it pinpointed the exact location of the errors, making corrections quick and easy.
• Seamless API-Driven Upload: Once validated, the program automatically processed the Excel data and updated the risk scores within TeamMate’s risk assessment overview in real-time.
• Continuous Updates & Efficiency Gains: The solution enabled the client to keep their risk assessments dynamically updated throughout the year, eliminating the need for manual input and significantly reducing the time spent on data management.

By utilising TeamMate’s API functionality, we transformed a cumbersome, labour-intensive process into a seamless, automated workflow. The client could now maintain up-to-date risk scores with minimal effort, ensuring that their risk assessments reflected the most current information at all times. This innovation not only streamlined their processes but also enhanced the overall efficiency and reliability of their risk management framework.
